Attukal Bhagavathy Temple

The temple is renowned for its Pongala festival, during which women engage in rituals to honor the goddess. In 2009, the festival made it into the Guinness Book of World Records for being the largest religious gathering of women on a single day, with over 2.5 million participants. The temple’s architecture is a blend of traditional Tamil and Kerala styles, showcasing intricately carved figures of Goddess Kali, Sree Parvathy, Lord Shiva, and the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

Bhadrakali, a manifestation of Mahakali, emerged victorious over the demon king Daruka. The temple dedicated to her is situated in Manacaud Village, Attukal ward, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala 695009. It is located 2 kilometers away from the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, 3 kilometers from the central bus stand and railway station, 6 kilometers from the international airport, and 4 kilometers from the government secretariat. The temple is open daily from 5 AM to 12:30 PM and from 5 PM to 8:30 PM.
