Varakkal Sri Durga Devi Temple

The Varakkal Sri Durga Devi Temple is a Hindu temple located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It is believed to be the 108th and final Devi temple built by the legendary founder of Kerala, Sree Parasurama. Situated on West Hill in the town area, near Bhat Road beach, the temple is approximately 6 kilometers from the Kozhikode railway station. The temple timings are from 5 AM to 12 PM and 5:30 PM to 8 PM.

The temple is devoted to Goddess Durga and also includes smaller shrines for Ganesha, Dakshinamoorthy, and Sree Ayyappan. It is a well-known pilgrimage site that is recognized for its promotion of cultural arts. The primary festival held at the temple is Vavu Bali, a ritual for deceased souls that attracts numerous devotees who come to perform ancestral rites. According to legend, the sea remains unusually calm on this day to facilitate religious ceremonies.
