Sree Azhakodi Devi Maha Kshetram (Azhakodi Devi Temple)

The Azhakodi Devi Temple, also recognized as the Azhakodi Devi Mahakshethram, is a prominent Hindu temple situated in Thiruthiyad, Kozhikode, Kerala. It is renowned as one of the most prominent Devi temples in the region, conveniently located 1.5 km from the Mofussil Bus stand and 2.5 km from the KSRTC Bus stand. The administration of the temple falls under the jurisdiction of the Malabar Devaswom Board.

The main deity of the temple is Bhadrakali, portrayed as a warrior goddess wielding a sword, trident, crescent moon, skull, and snake. The temple also houses seven other maternal forms: Brahmani, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani, and Chamundi, along with a highly respected Shivalinga. The temple is distinctive in Kerala as it worships two primary goddesses, both Devi.

The temple hosts a yearly nine-day festival that commences with a ceremonial flag hoisting on the Utrattathi asterism in the Malayalam month of Medam (mid-April–mid-May) and culminates with a ceremonial bathing of the deity on the Punartham asterism.
