Nedumkayam

Nedumkayam Rainforest in Malappuram, Kerala, India, is a popular tourist destination situated 15 km from Nilambur. This site is a significant part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is renowned for its lush rainforest vegetation, pristine air quality, and crystal-clear water streams.

The rainforest is a diverse habitat for a wide range of plant and animal species, including elephants, bison, tigers, rabbits, blue monkeys, bears, wildcats, and deer. It is also designated as an “Important Bird Area” due to its abundance of over 200 bird species. Additionally, the rainforest features a popular elephant taming camp that attracts tourists. Nedumkayam is situated on the outskirts of the Nilambur forest area, near the Nilgiri hills. Accessible via Karulayi, the area is connected by two girder bridges spanning the river.
