The mosque has a fascinating history that exemplifies the spirit of communal harmony that existed during that period. A stone slab in the mosque, engraved with the ancient Malayalam script, Vattezhuthu, tells the tale of the Zamorins, the former rulers who supported Islam and contributed the land for constructing the mosque.The mosque is situated 1.5 kilometers away from Kozhikode Railway Station.

Muchundi Palli, also known as Muchunthi Masjid, is a historic mosque dating back to the 13th century located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India. It holds the distinction of being the oldest mosque in the city and is situated in Kuttichira, the medieval Muslim quarter. The mosque showcases traditional Kerala architectural design, lacking minarets, domes, or arches. The roof is adorned with intricate calligraphy of Qur’anic verses and detailed carved flowers on the sides.
