The fort, which features a distinctive round bastion, is contemporaneous with the well-known Bekal fort. Its southern wall is adjacent to NH 17. The fort is situated near the Nithyanandasram, a renowned spiritual center with 45 caves, and the Poonkavanam Karpooreswara Temple, a Shiva temple constructed by the Nayaks.
