The Basilica of Our Lady of Dolours, also known as Puthenpally, is a minor basilica that is a very popular tourist attraction in Thrissur. This basilica is famous as the largest church in India with a tower and the third tallest in Asia, standing at 261 ft tall and covering 25,000 sq ft.
The basilica is best known for its Bible Tower and Gothic architecture, that blends Kerala, Dutch, French, and Portuguese styles. The bible tower is a 260ft tall standing at the rear part of the church. Apart from this there are 2 tall towers 146ft each, that attracts its visitors. The basilica also has double-storeyed aisles, soaring belfries, and eleven altars.
