Palakkad Fort

The Palakkad Fort, also referred to as Tipu’s Fort, is a significant historical landmark located in the center of Palakkad, Kerala, India. Originally rebuilt in 1766 by Hyder Ali and subsequently acquired by his son Tipu Sultan, the fort is renowned for its impressive architecture, highlighting the craftsmanship of ancient Vishwakarmas and French artisans. It is considered one of the most well-preserved forts in the state of Kerala.

The fort covers an area of 60,702 square meters and is encircled by a broad moat that once acted as a defensive barrier. Situated at the base of the Sahyadris mountain range, it is nestled within a complex network of thick forests and flowing rivers.
