Maipady Palace, located in Kasaragod, Kerala, India, is a 16th century palace that showcases traditional Kerala architecture. Situated on the Kasaragod-Perla road, approximately 8 km from Kasaragod town, the palace was constructed by the Mayippadi Rajahs, a branch of the Bednore Nayaks, and served as the seat of the Kumbala Kings. Featuring a central courtyard, wooden pillars, sloping roofs with tiles, and intricate carvings, Maipady Palace is a prime example of the region’s architectural heritage.
The palace is privately owned by the heir of the Kumbala kings and features a large plantation and a small temple on the right side. Please note that the palace offers free admission but does not have a restaurant, restroom, wheelchair accessible entrance, or parking lot available.
