The Kanjirapuzha Dam is a masonry earth dam located in the Palakkad district of Kerala, India. Situated on the Kanjirapuzha River, a tributary of the Bharathapuzha River, it was constructed to facilitate irrigation and flood control for a Cultural Command Area spanning 9,713 hectares. Construction of the dam commenced in 1961, and it is renowned for its engineering prowess. The dam and its reservoir are ensconced by the lush, evergreen Vettilachola forest, providing picturesque vistas of the Western Ghats.
Kanjirapuzha, located approximately 40 km from Palakkad town, is a popular tourist destination known for its dam and reservoir. The surrounding area has been transformed into a beautifully landscaped garden called Vrindavan Gardens. Additionally, the reservoir includes three islands and a commercial fisheries development program, making it a diverse and attractive destination for visitors.
