Art Gallery And Krishna Menon Museum

The Krishna Menon Museum and Art Gallery in Kozhikode, Kerala is a cultural institution and tourist attraction dedicated to honoring the late statesman V. K. Krishna Menon. The museum is situated in the East Hill area of Kozhikode, housed in the former Collector’s official bungalow until 1960. Operating hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM, Tuesday through Sunday, with the museum closed on Mondays.

The museum includes a section showcasing Menon’s personal belongings and memorabilia, as well as souvenirs from other world leaders. The art gallery exhibits paintings by Raja Ravi Varma and Raja Raja Varma, along with ivory objects d’art, wood carvings, and modern paintings.

Menon served as India’s fifth Defence Minister from 1957 to 1962 and was the first individual from Kerala to be awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest civilian honor. In addition to his role in government, he also served as a diplomat, representing India at the United Nations for a decade. The museum, established in 1975, pays tribute to Menon, who was born in Thalassery and educated in Kozhikode.
