Seethargundu Viewpoint

Seethargundu Viewpoint is a popular tourist spot in Palakkad, Kerala, India, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the surrounding area from a cliff top. Situated in the Nelliyampathy Hills, approximately 8 kilometers from Nelliyampathy, the viewpoint is under the management of the POABS plantation. The name “Seethargundu” means “Sita’s rock” in reference to a local legend that Sita, from the epic Ramayana, used to frequent the rock. According to some beliefs, Lord Ram, Lakshmanan, and Mother Sita also rested at this viewpoint.

The viewpoint is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, photographers, and hikers. The lush forests surrounding the viewpoint are inhabited by monkeys and various other wild animals. The area is renowned for the Pothundy Dam, where visitors can enjoy boating and picnicking. Additionally, the viewpoint boasts a stunning 100-foot waterfall.

Access to the viewpoint is through a picturesque drive along winding roads adorned with greenery and streams. At the top, there is ample parking available, as well as a shop selling a variety of food products such as jams, squash, spices, and honey.
