Teak Museum: An Artistic Collection

The Teak Museum in Nilambur, Kozhikode, India, established in 1995, is recognized as the world’s inaugural teak museum. Situated on the premises of the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI) Sub Centre, the museum boasts an impressive collection of teak and is renowned for its picturesque surroundings. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring detailed information on the history, cultivation, management, utilization, and socio-economic impact of teak, along with various related articles.

The museum features a library containing books and literature on teak wood, as well as a mini auditorium for audiovisual presentations. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 AM to 4:30 PM, and closed on Mondays. Admission fees are Rs. 50 for adults, Rs. 15 for children, and Rs. 25 for parking. Additionally, the museum boasts a botanical garden showcasing a diverse range of plants such as flowering plants, herbs, cactus, ferns, orchids, and trees. The wild orchids are particularly popular among tourists.
