Wayanad Heritage Museum

The Wayanad Heritage Museum, also known as the Ambalavayal Heritage Museum, is situated in Ambalavayal, 12 km south of Sulthan Bathery in the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is considered one of the largest and most prestigious archaeological museums in Kerala, showcasing a diverse collection of artifacts dating back to the 2nd century AD. The museum is under the management of the District Tourism Promotion Council and is open to visitors daily from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.

The museum highlights the traditions and ways of life of the indigenous communities that have flourished in Wayanad, with a special emphasis on the cultural heritage of indigenous Adivasi communities like the Kurichiyas, Paniyas, and Kurumbas. Visitors have the opportunity to discover a diverse collection of traditional tribal artifacts, ranging from ancient weapons and jewelry to agricultural tools and traditional attire. The exhibits are displayed in four distinct galleries named Veerasmruthi, Gothrasmruthi, Devasmruthi, and Jeevanasmruthi.
