Mappila Bay

Mappila Bay, also known as Mopila Bay, is a natural harbor located in the city of Kannur, Kerala, India. It is a well-known destination for boating activities and was historically an important port connecting the Malabar region to other areas. Situated in Ayikkara, Mappila Bay is adjacent to the Arakkal Palace and Fort St. Angelo (Kannur Fort), which was constructed by the Portuguese in the 15th century. The bay is protected by a wall that separates the rough sea from the calm inland waters, allowing boats to safely enter and anchor.

It is truly captivating to arrive at the end of the bay and experience the tranquility of the sea. The area is popular for fishing, making it a delightful spot to visit in the evening with friends and family. If you have a vehicle, it is convenient to reach as it is a bit of a distance from Angelo Fort. You can easily access the end point by car or motorbike. A visit to this location is a must when exploring Angelo Fort.
