Located in the charming village of Thikkoti, about 30 kilometers from Calicut, this lighthouse is not in use anymore but is still a popular spot for tourists.
Legend has it that the lighthouse was built because of a shipwreck on the nearby rocky coast, and you can still see parts of the wreck. The area around Velliyamkallu Rock is also a temporary home for migrating birds. Therefore this is a perfect place for bird watching.
The operating hours of the lighthouse are from 3 to 6 PM. There are no signboards available after the highway deviation at Tikkodi. So help from locals may be required to reach there.
