Mattancherry Palace

The Mattancherry palace is also known as the Dutch Palace. It is a quadrangular Palace with a double storey structure. It was built in 1555 by the Portuguese as a gift to the Cochin king and it was a later renovated by the Dutch. Therefore, this palace is a combination of Portuguese, Kerala, and Dutch architecture. The palace has quiet a lot to see- including the spacious halls, Central courtyard, and a huge collection of murals and portraits.

The palace is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
