Karapuzha Reservoir

The Karapuzha Reservoir, located in Wayanad, Kerala, is the largest reservoir in India. It is created by a 625-meter-long, 28-meter-high earthen dam constructed across the Karapuzha River. The reservoir is a favored tourist destination throughout the year, with boating on the tranquil waters of the dam being a popular activity. Initially built for irrigation purposes, the reservoir now boasts lush vegetation that draws birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.

The beautifully landscaped gardens surrounding the dam provide a perfect setting for a relaxing picnic with family or friends, while a small children’s park is available to entertain the little ones. The nearby adventure park, a popular tourist attraction, features stunning gardens and walkways. The Karapuzha Dam is open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM, with no entry fee. It is recommended to visit between 9 AM and 5 PM for the best experience.
