Edakkal Caves

The Edakkal Caves consist of two natural caves located 1,200 meters above sea level on Ambukutty Mala, a hill near an ancient trade route. The name “Edakkal” translates to “a stone in between”. These caves are considered to be among the oldest human settlements ever found. Inside, visitors can observe pictorial drawings and engravings that provide evidence of ancient human presence.

The caves are accessible to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, operating from 8:30 AM to 4 PM. However, they are closed on Mondays. To reach the caves, visitors must undertake a 1.5 km trek from the parking lot.
